Approximately Top 10: where to stay Kilkenny Ireland

1) JBs Bar and Guest Accommodation
When I’m looking for where to stay Kilkenny Ireland, I choose JBs Bar and Guest Accommodation. It’s located right in the center of town, so you won’t waste any time when you get out of bed in the morning, heading for the sights of Kilkenny. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially compared to hotel prices in Dublin, and you often don’t need to prepay for the room.
In terms of facilities, they have single, double, and triple rooms, all with a private bath. Plus there’s free wifi and coffee in the rooms. That’s very important to me as I’m a digital nomad so I need wifi. I’m also an abusive goblin until I get my coffee in the morning. And apparently Irish courts don’t accept “I didn’t have my coffee yet” as an excuse for committing murder!

2) Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel
The Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel has some of the best reviews of any place where to stay Kilkenny Ireland. It’s located just a short walking distance from Kilkenny Castle, which is the most famous tourist attraction in town. If you’re looking for luxury in Kilkenny, this is the place to go. It has a great restaurant with an excellent breakfast and other meals.
For all you workaholics/Instagram addicts, the wifi is free and available in the room. If you love being pampered, the sheets and pillows come in a stunning shade of blue and purple. If you want to feel like a VFL (Very Fancy Lady), this is the hotel where to stay Kilkenny Ireland! Let the friendly staff pamper you and show you around Kilkenny.

3) Twin Oaks Bed and Breakfast
We might be sensing a bit of a theme here. After all, a cozy town like Kilkenny is the perfect place at which to stay in a bed and breakfast. And you can’t go wrong with the Twin Oaks Bed & Breakfast.
Unlike the first two suggestions, this one’s out of town a bit, so you would probably need a car if you wanted to stay here. But being a little removed from the action might make this the perfect place where to stay Kilkenny Ireland for you.
This bed and breakfast has free wifi, private bathrooms, and a breakfast that gets rave reviews. Their pancakes are especially praised by all and sundry. Have you ever had Irish pancakes before? Well, now is your chance!
This bed and breakfast also has arguably the best reviews of any of the best place where to stay Kilkenny Ireland. What else could you want from a cozy little b&b. And because it’s a family-run business, you get personalized attention from real live Irish locals! Everyone knows these are the friendliest kind of locals!

4) Butler House
The Butler House is definitely one of the pricier hotels that I recommend in Kilkenny.
However, it’s definitely one of the best places where to stay Kilkenny Ireland, even at a higher price. Stay here if you’re feeling a little like a splurge. As befitting a splurge, you get a full English/Irish breakfast every morning. All the blood pudding your little heart could desire!
But the Butler House has all the amenities you’d expect at a fine hotel: free Wifi, room service, a central location, chandeliers, etc. In fact, part of the reason Butler House has such a good location is that it’s actually part of the Kilkenny Castle Estate! So if you’ve ever wanted to live like Anglo-Irish royalty, you need to stay here!

And honestly, even if this hotel is out of your price range, just go look at their photos so you can see the spectacular views of the grounds. They will help you understand why the human eye is able to distinguish more shades of green than any other color.

5) Carrigeen Glamping
Kilkenny is a funny sort of place to plan a trip to–budget-wise. Most of the accommodations aren’t very expensive, but it’s hard to find something really low budget like a hostel. I guess that’s pretty typical when you’re looking for the best place where to stay Kilkenny Ireland because it’s a smallish city and that means there aren’t even 100 hotels in the area.
However, for those who want to walk on the wild side a teeny tiny bit, there’s Carrigeen Glamping. You’ll need a car to get there, but if you love the Irish countryside it will be worth it. There’s no TV or Wifi, but there is breakfast served at the lodge every morning. And it’s had loads of satisfied customers. Just about every review on their website is a rave, which is why last time I checked they were rated a 9.6 out of 10 stars.
Just because you are glamping doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style because there are different kinds of rooms here. The pods have toilets inside, whereas if you get a yurt, the toilets are nearby outside the room. In either case, the glampers share a shower in the communal room. Just be wise, family travelers. Children are not allowed at Carrigeen Glamping.

Even if you end up not deciding to stay here, I’m sure you’ll agree that glamping is an extremely fun word to say. Glamp, glamp, glamp, glamp.

6) Bregagh View B&B
Many of the best places where to stay Kilkenny Ireland are located either right inside town or a short drive outside. But the Bregagh View is a little unusual. It’s actually located a short walk (about 1 mile) outside of town. So you get quiet surroundings and a lovely walk into town every morning.
Since it’s a bed and breakfast, of course there’s an amazing spread every morning with homemade bread. The Bregagh View will also provide packed lunches for you, if you need some vittles to take with you on your morning tramp. (That depends if you’re more interested in visiting the city of Kilkenny or if you’d rather take a drive around the glorious countryside.
Leggetsrath also has the usual amenities like free wifi, tea and coffee makers, and private bathrooms. But you don’t really care about that, do you Internet Stranger? You’re just here for the yummy breakfast. Can’t fool me!

7) Laragh House B&B
As you’ve probably guessed at this point, if you’re into B&Bs, Kilkenny is definitely the town for you! So many of the best places where to stay Kilkenny Ireland are bed and breakfasts. Laragh House B&B has a great location just 15 minutes away from Kilkenny Castle by foot. Every guest gets a full Irish breakfast, wifi, a private bathroom, and a coffee maker in the room.
In fact, I would say when it comes to breakfast, the Laragh House is downright obsessed with pleasing its guests. You can get the full Irish breakfast, which comes with eggs, toast, sausage, and all that good stuff. But you can also take a cold buffet if for some reason you are allergic to hot food. They’ll even make you a fresh omelette if you want. That’s what I call service!
The Laragh House B&B also has an excellent location that’s within driving distance of a lot of attractions outside Kilkenny. If you have a car and would like to visit Waterford, where the crystal comes from, this would be a great place to stay. More interested in golf? They can point you towards the nearest golf course as well.

8) Bridge View B&B
Bridge View B&B has a truly special location, in my opinion, because it’s right by the River Nore. That makes it one of the best places where to stay Kilkenny Ireland.
The Nore isn’t nearly as famous as other Irish rivers like the Liffey, but I think it has its own quiet charm. Sometimes I make up poetry about the River Nore because it’s so easily to rhyme. “Ever more shall I praise the nore! It’s not a bore! She’ll ne’er make you snore! She brings thrills galore!”
The hotel is also located right in town, so it only takes four minutes to walk to Kilkenny Castle from the hotel. (All distances in Kilkenny legally have to be calculated based on how far they are from Kilkenny Castle. I believe the ghost of Finn MacCool will smite you if you break this law. )
Bridge View B&B also has all the amenities you’d expect from a Kilkenny B&B. Wifi? Check! Private bath? Check! Full Irish breakfast? Check! Italian breakfast? Probs no.

9) Zuni Hotel
Even the biggest B&B nerd might feel a little overwhelmed by all the bed and breakfasts in Kilkenny. So why not try a different type of place where to stay Kilkenny Ireland? Here we have the John Street Guesthouse, which sounds like it isn’t a bed and breakfast, but I think it might secretly really be a bed and breakfast in disguise.
The Zuni Hotel has all the amenities a person could need like Wifi, a private bath, a coffee maker, and parking for an extra charge. And it’s only a few minutes walk from Kilkenny Castle. Why, you might as well be living inside the castle like a Very Fancy Lady!
However, keep in mind that even though the Zuni Hotel is not called a bed and breakfast, they have a great breakfast to offer in their restaurant. (I’m pretty sure all guests also get a bed.) You’ll be able to get a delicious breakfast whether you like it or not! That’s just the Kilkenny way!

10) Kilkenny Pembroke Hotel
Ah, here we have something a little different. Kilkenny Pembroke Hotel is an actual 4-star boutique hotel and not a bed and breakfast at all. It even has its own restaurant and glamorous spa. Have you ever dreamed of relaxing with a massage or a facial in a glorious medieval Irish town? Then the Kilkenny Pembroke Hotel is for you.
However, it has all the other features you’d expect at a Kilkenny bed and breakfast like wifi, parking, and private baths. It even has air conditioning if the weather is hot enough when you visit Ireland to require it. (Spoiler alert! It won’t be!)
Now you might expect that since this is definitely a hotel, not a bed and breakfast, you wouldn’t get breakfast included in the price, but you’d be wrong. Dead wrong.
This is Kilkenny–you’re not walking away without a delicious breakfast. If you try to leave town without eating your breakfast, the locals grab you, throw some breakfast down your gullet, then lock you in gaol while you reconsider the error of your ways.

11) Kilkenny Tourist Hostel
Some of you might be feeling a little cranky with me because I’ve been suggesting things like bed and breakfasts or guesthouses and I haven’t been recommending hostels. What about the backpackers among us?
Well, to tell you the truth, I don’t like hostels much. I’m getting older and I like having my private bathroom. Plus, I had some weird experiences when I was younger at hostels, like the time I had to share a room with three British teenage boys and one of them was watching some…adult entertainment, which was embarrassing for all.
But if you want to stay in a hostel, go for it! In Kilkenny, I recommend the Kilkenny Tourist Hostel, which has excellent reviews. You can get a private room here or stay in a dorm, depending on your budget and the hostel’s availability. The bathrooms will be shared, and there are lockers to store your valuables.
This might be the only place in Kilkenny that doesn’t force you to have free breakfast in the morning, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find some cafe in Kilkenny that will feed you a muffin for a small fee. And there is free wifi at the Kilkenny Tourist Hostel, so that’s a nice added bonus.
If this hostel sounds appealing to you…
Go ahead and book your room right here!
