This tour is one of the most popular in the state of Tennessee, and it has over one thousand five star reviews to prove it! This tour lasts for seven hours, which is necessary because they’ll be driving you from Nashville to lovely Lynchburg, Tennessee for the distillery visit. Don’t worry because I promise they’ll drive you back!

You’ll get to see some quaint Tennessee towns and gorgeous countryside as you enjoy your trip. Then you’ll arrive at the distillery and you’ll have to opportunity to sample some of Jack Daniels’ finest product. It will be a delightful experience you’ll never forget!

This distillery is located right in downtown Nashville. They make many different kinds of spirits, including whisky, gin, vodka, and moonshine. You’ll be able to sample many different kinds of spirits, plus a cocktail! The only thing that makes a whisky tour more than satisfying is adding a cocktail on top.

That’s why I call the Big Machine Distillery Tour one of the best Nashville whisky tours. Plus, it’s right in the middle of town, so you won’t be spending any time on the tour driving. You can just spend a quick and fun part of your day here and then go on to other Nashville things.

3) Nashville Food Tour

So you might not think that a food tour belonged on the list of the best Nashville whisky tours, but I hope I can persuade you otherwise. After all, what goes better with whisky than food? And what about a food tour where you can get lots of amazing whisky drinks.

Nashville is a completely delightful city for a food tour. It’s total easy to walk around. It has delicious local eats like hot chicken that you can’t find elsewhere. Eating and walking your way through Music City is absolutely the way to go.

I won’t give away all the amazing secrets of this food tour, but I will give you a hint of what to expect with this list of delicious treats.

Have you ever heard of a celebrity chef named Sean Brock? He started the Husk restaurants, which I have been to in Charleston, and he’s been on lots of TV shows like The Mind of a Chef and Chef’s Table.

Well, he runs the first restaurant that we stopped at, and considering this is probably the first food you’ll have all day, get ready for some succulent Southern biscuits. They’re made with organic buttermilk, and they are positively scrumptious, especially when paired with homemade butter and jam.

Our guide, whom I shall call Charlie, said that the biscuits had gotten so popular because of the food tour that Joyland had even started selling their own biscuits. So now you can have hot Southern biscuits at home any time you want! I bet they won’t be as good as these, though.

Nashville isn’t always the first city I think of when I think of barbecue. I’m more likely to associate Nashville with chicken, which we will get to later. So I was glad to learn on this tour that Nashville is indeed an excellent city for barbecue. The big difference in styles here is that some restaurants keep their smoker inside the building and some keep it outside.

Have you ever heard brisket nachos on potato chips? Well, you’re about it. This treat was a lot easier to share with a tour group of 12 people than you would imagine. It was all covered in barbecue sauce, sour cream, and love. There were exactly zero nachos left at the end of the tour.

Did I say that there would be whisky on this tour or did I say that there would be whisky on this tour? Nothing goes better with barbecue that a refreshing bourbon iced tea. That’s just science.

Aha! I promised you chicken, and here is the chicken. We’ve got the thrilling Nashville hot chicken that has become famous all around the world. This version is said to be one of the milder ones, but no one on the tour was complaining about lack of heat, believe you me.

You might wonder how this hot chicken tradition got started. Well, there was a woman named Mrs. Prince, and her husband was stepping out on her. She decided to have revenge by putting hot sauce on his fried chicken. Her plan didn’t work because he loved it, and soon the couple were sharing their new discovery with a delighted world.

The last two stops on the food tour were for some more barbecue and then dessert. You might be wondering why a food tour would need two kinds of barbecue. But remember, this is the South! Technically a food tour should have seven kinds of barbecue.

And this barbecue stop was for pulled pork, whereas our last stop was for brisket, which is a completely different beast. Nothing is more satisfying than pulled pork. That’s just science.

I don’t think there’s any Nashville specific style barbecue, but this sandwich was served Memphis style, with the coleslaw inside the bun. It’s delicious, and so is Memphis.

The last bit on the tour was an amazing dessert from a local French bakery. I know, you weren’t expecting to find a French bakery in Nashville, but the world is full of surprises. This dessert was a flourless chocolate cake topped with lemon ginger ice cream came.

The bakery is actually run by French people from real France itself, which means that they take pastry making more seriously than heart surgery! Aren’t you glad to know that you can find sweets like this in Nashville?

I’m not sure when you go to Nashville that you’ll get this exact dessert because the itinerary on a food tour changes on a semi regular basis. But I’m sure your dessert will be equally delicious! Whether it’s another French pastry or a Moonpie or a Goo Goo Cluster, dessert in Nashville is always an event!

But that’s not all! You will also be able to take part in a beer flight at the local Fat Bottom Brewery. Then you’ll continue to the Nelson’s Green Briar Distillery for even more whisky.

Where to Stay?

Nashville hotels are much more expensive than I was expecting. But I suppose that’s not so surprising given how popular the best Nashville whisky tours are with tourists. It was a little tricky for me to find a hotel that was in a good location and affordable. That’s why I was grateful to the Fairlane Hotel for showing me such a good time.

How to Get There?

By Car: This is an easy way to get to the best Nashville whisky tours, if you are coming from somewhere else on the southern East Coast in the United States.

However, I don’t know how to drive, so this wasn’t an option for me. Fortunately Uber and Lyft are widely available in Nashville. If you need to rent a car, you can use the search engine Expedia to find the best price from the available car rental companies.

By Plane: Fortunately, there is an airport in Nashville! Since I live in New York City and don’t know how to drive, I found that flying was the easiest way to get to the top things to do in Nashville TN. (Again, I recommend using a search engine like Expedia to search for the best prices on flights.)

By Bus: I have definitely used the Greyhound bus to get to Nashville from Louisville. It’s a pretty easy and cheap ride–if you are car-free and coming from a fairly nearby destination, this might be the place for you. But I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re coming to the best Nashville whisky tours from a long distance.
