best boutique hotels in Pittsburgh

1) Drury Plaza Hotel

I suggest staying right in Downtown Pittsburgh because you’ll be right in the middle of the action and easily able to walk to many of the fine restaurants and attractions. When I stayed in this neighborhood, I was just a short walk away from the main attractions in Pittsburgh like the Andy Warhol museum and the Ketchup History Center. (That’s what I like to call the Heinz History Center.)

That’s why I recommend staying at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Pittsburgh. The staff is extremely friendly, the price was perfect given the amazing location, and a free breakfast buffet was included every morning.

My favorite amenity was the same one I enjoy any time I stay at a Drury Hotel, which is the evening Kickback. From between about 5:30 and 7, you get free drinks and snacks, which are pretty tasty and save you from having to spend money at a bar for happy hour.

Yes, there is a maximum number of drinks that they will give you for free, but I couldn’t drink more than the max, so I don’t think you will be able to either. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Pittsburgh.

If you’re looking for a great deal on this hotel, just go here.

2) Even Hotel Pittsburgh Downtown

Are you looking for a different choice from among the best boutique hotels in Pittsburgh? Then I suggest giving the Even Hotel Pittsburgh Downtown a try. This is a beautiful four star hotel right near PNC Park, where the Pittsburgh Pirates play, if you happen to be a baseball fan.

I do suggest checking out a game while you are in Pittsburgh because it really is a lovely ballpark with a great location. But let’s get back to the Even Hotel.

This hotel has a great full breakfast available, although you will have to pay an extra charge. It also has a restaurant on the premises, so if you get in to tired to go out to dinner, you can always just catch dinner at the hotel. I find having this option to be very convenient, especially since I usually travel solo, and I don’t always want to go out at night.

Are you looking for other special features? Well, of course I have you covered. There’s also a 24 hour front desk, a 24 hour gym, a free coffee and tea maker in the room, and of course, that all important free wifi. This hotel will be a great choice for you in Pittsburgh.

3) Joinery Hotel Pittsburgh

I’m still going to be steering you towards downtown Pittsburgh hotels because I do think those are the most convenient. However, I promise to get outside downtown Pittsburgh if I find a hotel that is really worth recommending.

Up next on our list of the best boutique hotels in Pittsburgh is the Joinery Hotel Pittsburgh. This hotel is in downtown Pittsburgh, also in a very convenient location. It’s got its own hotel restaurant, Christian James, which you can enjoy if you need to get a meal at the hotel. (Obviously the food at the hotel is extra.)

The hotel also has a good breakfast that isn’t included with the price of the hotel. So what is included with the price of the hotel? How about a 24 hour front desk, a gym, free wifi, and a coffee and tea maker in the room. Just what you would want from any comfortable and convenient hotel.

I really do think the rooms are what make this hotel special, so be sure to check out the images on the website before deciding if this is where you want to stay.

Are you interested in experiencing a luxury hotel? Maybe you didn’t expend to find a luxury hotel in the glorious city of Pittsburgh? Well, I can promise you that you will find a luxury experience at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco.

They have lots of amenities available for a surcharge, like breakfast at the hotel, valet parking, and a really good on site restaurant called The Commoner that has tons of great reviews. It’s a gastropub, so you’ll find meaty and satisfying food here.

There are also free amenities like a 24 hour front desk, wifi, free newspaper service, and a 24 hour gym. If you want to find a luxurious hotel in Pittsburgh where you can feel like you have really found a home away from home, I think you can hardly do better than the Kimpton Hotel Monaco.

5) Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel

OK, so I said that you might not associate Pittsburgh with luxury, and now I can say that you might not associate Pittsburgh with the Renaissance. But the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel is a great historic hotel that will show you a wonderful time in Pittsburgh.

What kind of amenities are you expecting at this point? Are you guessing that you will have to pay extra for breakfast, valet parking, and a laundry service? Of course we’ve got that.

But there are also the typical free features like free wifi, a 24 hour front desk, and a 24 hour gym? They’ve even got free cribs available if you need somewhere to put your baby. You can even bring pets to this hotel, but there is an extra fee per night for Man’s Best Friend, or any other pet for that matter.

6) The Priory

The Priory Hotel is the first hotel on our list of the best boutique hotels in Pittsburgh that is not in Downtown Pittsburgh. It’s located pretty nearby though, in the East Allegheny neighborhood. If you want to check out the attractions in Downtown Pittsburgh, this is still a pretty convenient location.

One difference between the Priory Hotel and many of the other best boutique hotels in Pittsburgh is that their breakfast is completely free every day. That’s right! No need to pay for your morning eggs.

There’s also free tea and coffee, free wifi, and a free gym, as I am sure you would be expecting in any classy hotel in Pittsburgh. If you need any assistance at any time of day, I am sure that the friendly staff at the 24 hour front desk will be happy to assist you.

Since the hotel isn’t in Downtown Pittsburgh, they have a convenient shuttle system to serve all your needs. The guests also rave about the clean and comfortable rooms and the helpful staff. This hotel has everything that a visitor to Pittsburgh might need!

7) Mansions on Fifth Hotel

OK, now we are getting a little further away from Downtown Pittsburgh with the Mansions on Fifth Hotel. This hotel is located in the neighborhood of the famous Pittsburgh University called Carnegie Mellon.

If you guessed that this university was partially named after famous Pittsburgh tycoon Andrew Carnegie, you would be correct! And it’s just within a short walk of the Carnegie art and natural history museums, so there’s plenty to do near the hotel.

If you want breakfast made to order every morning, you can get that here, of course. You will just have to pay a little extra. There is also a 24 hour front desk, wifi, a gym, and a luggage storage service, and you will not have to pay extra for any of those.

One thing that makes this hotel truly special is that it is located in a restored Edwardian mansion. So if you want to feel like you are experiencing true Pittsburgh glamour, this is absolutely the place to choose. The rooms are also really clean and comfortable, so don’t be worried that you will not be able to have a great time just because the place is old.

8) The Oaklander Hotel

OK, I admit that the Oaklander Hotel is definitely a little bit more expensive than some of the other hotels on this list of the best boutique hotels in Pittsburgh. However, it is definitely worth the splurge, if you have a little more money to spend on your time in Pittsburgh.

Like our previous entry, this hotel is closer to Carnegie Mellon and the surrounding attractions than it is to Downtown Pittsburgh and PNC Park, where Andrew McCutchen sometimes plays baseball. (I am a big baseball geek, though my favorite team is the Atlanta Braves.) It is also just a six minute walk away from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

This is a 4.5 star luxury hotel, so you can expect some really excellent amenities. There is a delicious breakfast and a valet service, though both are available for an extra charge. (I do not drive, so I cannot personally say whether the valet service is delicious or not.)

There is free wifi, a 24 hour front desk, and housekeeping available every day. The staff is super attentive and friendly, and the rooms are delightful and comfy cozy. There is also a hotel bar and restaurant called Spirits and Tales, which is located on the tenth floor of the hotel. This hotel has everything you need for a wonderful stay!
